Bay Cove Inn also offers a multitude of local activities including horse riding, safari parks, shell hunting or surfing. The coastal town of Jeffreys Bay is situated just off the N2 Highway, about an hour’s drive south west of Port Elizabeth. Spectators and surfers from all over the world flock to this event, which can be viewed live over the internet and various television channels. Boneyards, SuperTubes, Impossibles, Tubes, Point, and Kitchen Windows are all famous surf spots located in Jeffreys whilst the world famous ALBATROSS BEACH is directly in front of Bay Cove Inn. Located in central Jeffrey’s Bay, The Mexican is the result of a lifelong dream for owners Michelle and Warren. Actively supported by family members Naomi and Ken, De Viswijf emerged from an old fish factory building, as a result of the foresight of owners Suzette and Ernie Blignault who saw the potential in the neglected building for a successful restaurant. Day Attractions in Jeffreys Bay The Jeffrey’s Bay Shell Museum houses an impressive and beautiful collection of local shells gathered on the beaches of Jeffrey’s Bay, as well as shells from other countries. Visitors are welcome to collect shells which are varied and plentiful and enjoy the world famous Billabong Surfing competition held at Supertubes annually in July, is a mere 900m walk along our beach. There are a number of small nature reserves in the area, such as the Kabeljous Estuary and Nature Reserve, which is a walk-about reserve with a safe beach for swimming and excellent fishing opportunities as well as bird watching and small animals. Water sports in around Jeffreys Bay: surfing, scuba diving, swimming, snorkelling, boat trips, fishing, sailing, canoeing and body surfing. These include: mountain bike rides, beach horse rides, a 9-hole golf course, a shark aquarium, river cruises, quad biking and hiking trails. Then there is the Seekoei River Nature Reserve which is on the Seekoei River estuary. It is a bird watchers paradise, as the hide overlooks the Seekoei River where there is an abundance of water fowl. No trip to Jeffreys Bay would be complete without enjoying the incredible wildlife viewing. Wake up aboard the good ship Bay Cove Inn and within an hour or so you can be at either Addo, Shamwari Game Reserve, Lallibella or one of the numerous game farms in our area. Surfing Attractions in Jeffreys Bay This area is the soul of surfing in South Africa. Albatross is the last stop in a long line of sections along the point at J Bay and within easy walking distance of Bay Cove Inn. Family Attractions in Jeffreys Bay Bay Cove Inn is perfectly situated for the family with fine beaches situated 150m from our ship. During September our annual Shell festival held with numerous family events planned, enquire at Bay Cove Inn for a full schedule closer to the time for more details. Further outside our town is the small village of Cape St Francis where families can spend the day viewing this historical landmark at Seal Point in Cape St Francis and the Ajubatus Coffee Shop and home of the Penguin Rescue Centre. Follow the 13 km trail over picturesque dunes to the river mouth from where the 6km stretch of coastline is yours to take your horse for a thrilling gallop.
